Green building practices can be described as practices that reduce the use of materials and energy in construction, lower occupants' consumption of energy and water, and minimize waste disposal in remodeling or demolition. Standard construction methods are often wasteful and inefficient, and these methods are the starting point for making improvements--many of which have been labeled "green building". Green building can be incorporated into any project. A new or remodeled green building will maximize the use of all construction materials and will minimize waste. JMCC takes the "soft" approach with options that all homeowners can incorporate into their project. For example, before an old kitchen or demolition of an old house takes place, Second Use looks at what can be salvaged and reused. In the building process numerous options are available for building green.

As an added nod towards green living, a homeowner's manual with environmentally conscious cleaning tips is given to all clients upon completion of a project.

JMCC is proud to be a member of the Built Green coalition.
